Research what you want to see. Don't let your budget adversely affect your plans. If you must, save to realize your dreams.
Pack for the unexpected, but pack wisely and light. Remember, you have to carry it! Bring small quantities of toiletries. Bring those chargers. Take as little as possible through airport security. It will save you time and make you less likely to loose things. Bring your camera and important phone numbers.
Use a professional travel agent. They do not cost you anything but add experience and knowledge to your trip. They will work to fulfill your dreams and absorb all of the hassles and avoid the numerous pitfalls.
Look into trip insurance. Especially if you suffer from an existing condition or anticipate any future problems that could cause a cancellation or delay in your trip.
Always bring identification. A driver's license is adequate domestically, but a passport is best. Carry them on your person in a safe place.
Do all you can to stay well. Wash your hands frequently and take any prescribed medication. Avoid unsafe activity and travel with others. Eat healthy and drink lots of water. Nutrition and hydration keep you well.
Above all, get plenty of rest. Don't burn the candle at both ends. Play hard and then relax...

Some suggestions: Cruise Alaska, the last US frontier. If you have already been, go again. It is spectacular. Relax in the Caribbean sun. Eastern, Western, Southern, the Bahamas and Bermuda. Leave from convenient locations from Texas to Florida and up and down the eastern seaboard. River cruise the Mississippi or Columbia/Snake Rivers. These are intimate adventures affording unique venues. Try an all-inclusive to Riviera Maya and visit the ecological preserves of Explor, Xi Hal, and Xcaret. or the Mayan ruins @ Tulum, Chichen Itza, and Coba. Also in Mexico are Xijuantenajo and Xtapa on the west coast. These are just a few of our recommendations. We have been to each of them so we are able to give advice from firsthand knowledge.
CL Tours is in the beginning stages of planning a tour to the Big Apple. Tentative dates are December 26-31, 2012. Highlights are two Broadway plays (TBA), the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular @ Radio City Music Hall, and the Statue of Liberty. Please email or phone us if interested.
Just returned from CCMS, SCS, VCS, and St. Peter's Lutheran 2012 Historic Tour of the Historic Triangle and Washington D. C. We had 98 total on the tour, 64 8th-grade students and 34 adult chaperones and staff. This was Capitals 11thannual trip and Summits 3rd.
We added 2 new sites this year. The University of Virginia, in Charlottesville, VA and the Civil War Battlefield in Manassas, VA. We took a tour of the Virginia campus led by continuing students stressing admissions, preparation for college, and college life. A Park Ranger led a tour of the battlefield and provided many facts of the 1st Manassas battle.
The places we saw on the tour were: Jamestown (recreated and original), Yorktown Victory Center, Surrender Field, Williamsburg, Monticello, Arlington National Cemetery, Ford's Theater, Capitol Hill, Library of Congress, the National Archives, the Supreme Court, the Washington National Cathedral, and Memorials to FDR, Lincoln, Iwo Jima, MLK, Korean War, WWII, and the Vietnam War. Almost forgot: Fort McHenry in Baltimore.
