Philadelphia

Most famous as being the site of the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, Philadelphia was home to the 1st and 2nd Continental Congress, the signing of both the Declaration of Independence and the U. S. Constitution, and our nation's first capital from 1783-1800.  Its most well known resident was Benjamin Franklin.  Born in Boston, he lived most of his life in Philadelphia as a businessman, publisher, inventor, statesman, and politician.  He was a delegate to the 2nd Continental Congress, helped draft the Declaration of Independence, was a delegate to the convention that produced the U. S. Constitution, and negotiated the Treaty of Paris which ended the Revolutionary War.
